TNPSC Group 4 2023
The TNPSC Group 4 exam is one of the major exams conducted by the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC).
The group 4 examination is conducted annually by TNPSC to select the following post.,
- Village Administrative Officer (VAO)
- Junior Assistant
- Bill Collector
- Typist & Steno-Typist
Note: Separate examination is now conducted for the posts of Field Surveyor and Draftsman, which were selected under the TNPSC Group 4 examination in the past.
LATEST UPDATE 12th July 2023: The final result for the TNPSC Group 4 Exam 2022 has been announced, and the counseling process will take place from July 20, 2023, to August 10, 2023, in both the morning and afternoon sessions. You can check the published list to see if you are eligible for counseling |
Also, it is worth noting that this is the Exam with the most vacancies. That is, the exam is conducted for at least 8000 vacancies.
Last year too, TNPSC released the Group 4 Notification to recruit 10748 vacancies.

TNPSC Group 4 Exam Date 2023
The TNPSC Group 4 Exam Date for the year 2023 is scheduled to take place in February 2024. As per the TNPSC Annual Planner 2023-2024, the notification for the Group 4 exam is expected to be released in November 2023. Online registration for the exam will commence in November 2023 and the last date to apply is expected to be in December 2023.

TNPSC Group 4 Salary Details
TNPSC Group 4 Salary ranges from Rs. 19,500 to 62,000 as per the 7th Pay Commission. The basic scale band is Rs. 19,500 – 62,000 (Level 8). Additional allowances and benefits are provided.

TNPSC Group 4 Qualification
TNPSC Group 4 Qualification 2023: 10th Class/SSLC required. Age limit: 18-32 for SSLC candidates, 18-58 for candidates with higher education. Check below for category-specific age limits.
You can only write if you meet two qualifications for this exam. They are,

Educational Qualification
You can write this exam if you have completed at least 10th Class / SSLC. [பத்தாம் வகுப்பு]
Age Limit
18 to 32 for those who have completed only the 10th class in terms of age.
18 to 58 for those who have studied above 10th class Ie., 12th, Diploma, Degree and etc…

Typewriting Qualification
Aspirants must have passed the Government Technical Examination in Typewriting for the post of Typist and Steno-Typist
- by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and English (or)
- by Higher / Senior Grade in Tamil and Lower/ Junior Grade in English
- (or) by Higher / Senior Grade in English and Lower/ Junior Grade in Tamil.

Group IV Selection Method
Applicants who have to apply for these exams are selected only through written examination.
Those who pass the written test are certified and assigned to the job through counseling.
- Stage 1: Written Test (Objective Type Exam)
- Stage 2: Document Verification (Certificate Verification)
Written Exam Pattern
We mentioned above that the first step in the selection process is the writing test.

The written examination will be conducted in two papers in the form of Objective type questions (MCQ).
